  Rosa Parks was born in Tuskegee Alabama to James McCauley and Leona McCauley, her father was a carpenter and her mother was a teacher in her younger years she was sick most of the time and as a child her parents separated, rosa did not attend a public school until the age of eleven, before that she was home schooled by her mother, she taught her to read at a young age., Rosa attended the Industrial School for girls where she took vocational and academic courses. She had to drop out to care for her sick grandmother. Rosa Parks early childhood brought her early experiences with racial discrimination and activism. She later married a man named Raymond Parks a barber from Montgomery. In 1943 Rosa Parks had her first incident on a segregated bus, instead of going through the back she walked through the white section in front of the bus, then was demanded by the bus driver to get off the bus. In Rosa Parks then became active in the civil rights movement, her and her husband were also members of the voter’s league, Six months before her famous protest, she received a scholarship to attend a workshop on school integration. Raymond Parks volunteer efforts went towards helping the defendants in the famous Scottsboro case. she was elected volunteer’s secretary.On December 1, 1955 after her day at work as a seamstress Rosa boarded a city bus, When she refused to give up her seat to a white man the bus driver called police and she was arrested for disobeying an Alabama law. Her arrest sparked a 381-day boycott of the Montgomery System, She lost her job at the department store, and her husband quit his job, Parks traveled and spoke extensively mostly because she wasn’t able to find work. In 1979 NAACP awarded  Rosa the springard metal, after retirement Parks wrote her autobiography of her life titled ” Quiet Strength” it discusses a chronology of her life and the faith, determination and pain it took. On August 30, 1994 she was attacked in her detroit home by an African-American drug addict, he claims he did not know she was Rosa Parks and was sentenced to 8-15 years. In 1996 Rosa was given the Medal of Freedom presented by Bill Clinton, Time magazine also named Rosa Parks as one of the 20 most powerful and influential figures of the century.March 1999 Parks filed a lawsuit against Outkast and Laface records claiming that the group illegally used her name in a song without her permission.Irrespective of her fame, she was not a wealthy women and lived off of her own salary money, she also appeared in the television series “Touched by an Angel” She was unable to pay the rent of her apartment in Detroit but because of her image and fame the executives of the ownership company announced that she could live there free for the rest of her life. Rosa was diagnosed with dementia and later died of natural causes,  her funeral service was held at the Greater Grace Temple Church on November 2.  The house of representatives approved Rosa Park’s body to be laid in the US capitol Rotunda.Three days after her passing, all of the buses in Montgomery and Detroit reserved their front seats with black ribbons in her honor, and a memorial service was held.
