 Task 1:
By referring to the motivational theories discussed during our course, describe
how you would motivate your team to achieve excellent results within this tight
schedule. In order to describe the process of motivating employees during a
busy period of time this essay will discuss two theories: Maslow’s hierarchy of
needs and Herzberg’s two-factor theory of motivation. “In Maslow’s hierarchy
needs are structured into 5 levels: Physical, Security, Social, Self-esteem,
and Self-fulfilment” (Rollinson, 2008). Logically the workers would be
motivated by having a higher level of their needs fulfilled, only after the
lower level has been satisfied. For instance a worker who is starving will be
motivated to earn just enough money to buy food, before worrying about getting
promoted or earning recognition and respect in the workplace. Printing Company
should therefore offer different incentives to workers in order to help them
fulfil each need and move up the hierarchy. Since every employee is unique it
is also important to consider that not all of them will be motivated the same
way, and neither will they move up the hierarchy at the same time. Consequently
companies should consider offering a different set of incentives from employee
to employee. “Herzberg had close links with Maslow and believed in a two-factor
theory of motivation, those factors being motivators and hygiene” (Rollinson,
2008). Motivators are factors related to the job which will directly improve
the employee’s motivation if introduced by the business, whereas hygiene
factors are those that surround the job and therefore do not directly improve
the employee’s motivation, but would de-motivate them if not present. For
instance opportunities for promotion or recognition belong to the group of motivators
whereas hygiene factors are related to the cleanliness of the workplace. I will
try to motivate my employees by: ? Increasing their wages for 5% ?
Offering to pay them 50% more when they have to work overtime ?
Promoting those that work the hardest ? Offering a few extra days of
vacation ?
Having a special event to chat with one another and have a good time and so on.
Task 2: Based on our workplace stress discussions, how would you manage the
stress within your company during this period? After this period is short
period and my company has produce high-quality products and the demand is very
satisfactory. My orders for the 2017 end-year period have surpassed my
predictions for around 60% and normally who I and my workers have stress but
after we have success in this filed then I must to manage the stress by
organizational characteristics such: relations between colleagues, relation
between workers-company and organizational policies. In this period of work is
important providing alternative working hours such: flexitime, job sharing and
time management giving the workers a short break (smoking, eating, abdominal
breathing, relax) salaries (the worker with long time who work he/she paid
more).Relationship between life-work, for the sake of personal life through
work stress, then we offer care, for example, the mothers who provide them with
organizational strategies as they are: permission to take the child to work in
case of emergency or to cover the expenses for a nanny so that the workers
cannot be decommissioned in work for their children, so environment must be
commode(temperature in different seasons and to not have noise)because
temperature and noise affect direct in stress of employees.
