            The story of Wuthering Heights written by Emily Bronte takes place in the
Victorian time period in the Northern Yorkshire moors, in England. The story’s
main settings are two homes on the moors, Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross
Grange. All of the characters are related in some way and at one point or
another have done something to hurt someone else. The novel’s point of view is
Nelly’s voice, all through indirect contact. The novel is narrated by Lockwood;
the events had been written down in his diary. Both characters complicate their
narrations through misunderstandings about the story’s key events. Heathcliff
was an orphan who was brought to Wuthering Heights by Mr. Earnshaw and raised
with his two children, Catherine and Hindley. After the death of Mr. Earnshaw,
Hindley began to mistreat Heathcliff and used him as a servant. Heathcliff and Catherine
fell deeply in love but her desperate need to fit in society led her to marry
Edgar Linton, enraging Heathcliff. He decided that he would anything necessary
to get revenge on Catherine and her family because of the humiliation she caused
him. He married Isabella Linton, Edgar’s sister, but never returned her feelings
of admiration. He used her as a tool in his game of revenge on Catherine. He
found fortune and used his newfound financial power to purchase both
properties, Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange. Wuthering Heights is a novel about good versus evil, the power of
an unbreakable love, and how society changes a person. The whole story is about
Heathcliff’s seek for revenge on Catherine for marrying another man. He destroyed
any relationship necessary in order to do so, as Catherine brings utter despair
to the men who love her. Catherine and Heathcliff’s everlasting love was tested
through her life with Edgar and their children and Heathcliff’s seek for
revenge. She knows she loves him, but her need to be
